1. Add to the mash: Start by adding dextrose to the mash, usually at rates of 4-6 pounds per gallon of water. This will help increase the alcohol content of the final spirit.
2. Ferment the mash: Once your mash is ready, time to start fermentation. During this process, the dextrose will be converted into ethanol and carbon dioxide.
3. Distill the mash: Once fermentation is complete, time to distill the mash. This will allow you to separate out the ethanol from the other ingredients in the mash.
4. Collect the distillate: Collect the distillate in a clean container. The liquid that contains the ethanol, and will be the basis of your spirit.
5. Add the dextrose back into the distillate at a rate of 8-10 pounds per gallon of water. This will increase the alcohol content while at the same time adding a bit of sweetness to the final spirit.
