Distilling, the process of separating components of a liquid mixture by heating it to create vapor. Then cooling and condensing the vapor back into liquid form. This technique commonly used in the production of alcoholic beverages like whiskey and vodka, as well as in the creation of essential oils and perfumes. Distillation allows for the purification and concentration of desired compounds, while also removing impurities and unwanted substances.

Typical things needed for distilling.

1. Distillation equipment: This includes a still (pot, column, or hybrid), condenser, and receiver for collecting the distilled liquid.

2. Heat source: Most commonly used are electric or gas burners to heat the still.

3. Cooling source: A cold water source is needed to cool the vapor coming out of the still into liquid form.

4. Raw materials: Depending on what you are distilling, you will need ingredients such as grains, fruits, or herbs.

5. Water: Distilled water is often used in the distillation process.

6. Yeast: For fermenting the raw materials to create alcohol.

7. Thermometer: Used to monitor the temperature of the still during distillation.

8. Hydrometer: Used to measure the alcohol content of the liquid being distilled.

9. Storage containers: To store the distilled spirits after the distillation process is complete.

10. Protective gear: Gloves, goggles, and aprons may be needed to protect yourself during the distillation process.
